For reasons that remain puzzling to me, most of my portrait clients are women. Maybe we’re more willing to be vulnerable. Or maybe we’re more inclined to get totally glammed up, kind of like going to a spa for a manicure or pedicure. Whatever the reasons, I want to make sure that men throughout the Treasure Valley know that heirloom portrait sessions are great for guys too!
Come dressed in a tuxedo or a nice dark business suit. Or just bring your favorite pair of jeans and a leather jacket along with a few different tops. Whatever you’re comfortable in and however you want to be captured, contemporary portrait sessions are designed to provide images that evoke an Old Hollywood feel. Maybe that means you want to appear like Cary Grant. Maybe it means you’re more of a James Dean kind of guy. Both styles have their merit.
I even have a vintage fresnel light, the kind you might have found on a movie set!
I love collaborating with clients in the Boise area on creating portraits that are designed to be treasured for the years to come. After each session, you’ll get the chance to decide which images you would like printed and how large. I offer everything from an 8X10 matted print to matted prints as large as 30X40. I also work with a studio in Italy that creates amazing folio boxes that come with 15 matted prints. And one of my absolute favorites is what I call the “9 Up” — 9 images that are in a matted grid. Each image you order to be printed comes with a digital version that you can use to post on social media.
Everyone deserves to look and feel great, to capture this moment in time and embrace all the challenges that life has thrown their way and from which they’ve emerged stronger, wiser and more resilient. No matter your story, I’m the Boise photographer who wants to tell it.
