I’ve spent years working with clients in providing a headshot image that shows them as the confident, approachable and trustworthy professionals that they are. When you look at their LinkedIn profile, it’s not unheard of to see a selfie, or an image shot outside against a busy background of foliage or, horrors!, even just a blank avatar.
A headshot is an investment in YOU. Impressions are made in a blink of an eye _ studies show it takes less than a second to form an impression based just by looking at someone’s face. Do you want to risk a prospective employer or client to pass you by or not take you seriously because your headshot doesn’t look professional? It might not be fair, but it is the reality.
Headshots are used in a variety of online places: LinkedIn, Facebook, company websites, email signatures, blogs, Skype, Twitter, Instagram. Your headshot IS your first impression. It should capture you in the most professional, yet engaging way. Keep the Hawaiian shirts or hoodies at home, and don’t wear them for your headshot.
Friends and family mean well when they pull out their iPhone to take a photo of you for these social media platforms. But only a professional headshot photographer knows how to draw out the right expressions, how to pose you in the most flattering way, and how to work with light. I’ve spent years studying the human face and finding the best ways to capture each shot to account for differences in eye size, nose curves and hairlines. I provide each client ahead of time a checklist of tips for clothing choices, hair and grooming, and jewelry.
My goal is to provide a comfortable experience as well as one that produces stellar results. I shoot tethered so you’ll be able to review images along the way and we can make adjustments to provide you with exactly the images you want to put out into the world. Then at the end of each session, we’ll grab a beverage and go through the gallery to make your selections right then and there.
When you invest in a professional headshot, future employers or clients will be drawn in and want to know more about you and your skills. It will be build instant trust.
